WASHINGTON BEATS DETROIT WITH GRIT
The Washington Redskins survived a rough and tough game against the Detroit Lions Sunday, hanging on with a 25-17 win at Ford Field in Detroit. Washington, which trailed throughout the first half, and trailed 10-6 at halftime, gained their composure quickly in the second half when it mattered most, behind Jason Campbell, who finished the game 23-28 with 328 yards passing and 1 touchdown. Washington star receiver Santana Moss put the Redskins ahead for good with an 80-yard punt return for a touchdown to make the score 22-10. Moss finished the day with 9 catches for 140 yards and one touchdown.
Detroit came firing back after the Moss touchdown. Quarterback Dan Orlovsky hit Calvin Johnson with a 17-yard touchdown pass, to make the score 22-17. After Redskin kicker Shaun Suisham made the score 25-17 with a field goal, Detroit`s chances of getting their first win ended. Dan Orlovsky threw an incomplete pass at midfield on fourth down and that sealed the Lion`s fate and made them 0-7 on the year. The win made Washington 6-2 for the first time since 2000, and put them in 2nd place in the NFC EAST. Detroit continues to spiral out of control being the only win-less team in NFL Football this season.
