Redskins Portis as tough as nails….
Washington coach Jim Zorn prepared former NFL MVP Shaun Alexander to get ready to go in for Redskins back Clinton Portis. Only problem was that Portis refused to come out. With his sprained knee bothering him, Portis showed no signs of whining or wincing despite his coaches decision. Good thing that Zorn listened and believed Portis or Washington might be 6-5 instead of 7-4 in the NFC EAST. Portis finished the game with 143 yards on 29 carries en route to Washington`s 20-17 win at Seattle.
Portis is now the NFL`S leading rusher ahead of star Adrian Peterson with 1,206 to Peterson`s 1,180. Portis is on pace for 1,754 yards rushing for the season and Peterson 1,716 yards. Washington has won 21 of 25 games when Portis rushes for 100 yards or more. His coach put it simple by saying “He was a warrior.” That and then some is what Portis has meant to this Redskin team this year. As Clinton goes, so do the Redskins!
