Washington sets itself on Sunday win vs. 49ers

photo credit: littlerottenrobin The Washington Redskins and the San Francisco 49ers enter Sunday`s final game, in search of a win and a little positively heading into the off-season. Washington looked promising early in the season by remaining in second place midway. Times have changed and so has their record(8-7). San Francisco sits at 6-9 on the year and have made great strides under interim coach Mike Singletary. He has established a no-nonsense work ethic that so many NFL teams lack today. I personally hope he gets the job permanently in the off-season.
Although neither team will make the playoffs this football season, a win in the regular-season finale could go a long way for their organization. The 49ers would go to 7-9, a great improvement from the past few years and show that the may be ready to go further next season.
Washington would finish with a winning record of 9-7, which they would prefer over a mediocre 8-8. Santana Moss is just 24 yards away from 1000 for the season. Star back Clinton Portis is in third place in the league with 1,407 yards rushing. They personally want these records to show how great their seasons were. Jim Zorn has done a very decent job coaching in his first year. Portis has played like a warrior this season, despite being hurt most of it. The more consistent Washington is the better off they will be. The future looks bright for both of these teams and their head coaches.
